Practice-oriented adaptations guarantee a fast production start up
“The parts are unusual in several aspects”, says Michael Rau, application technicianr at CAMäleon Produktionsautomatisierung GmbH, and points to the machine bed of the SBZ151 profile machining centre from elumatec. An 1800 mm by 350 mm multi-chamber profile is clamped there, from which almost half of the original material will be removed in a complex machining process. The complex machining was programmed and simulated in advance by Mr. Rau using PUMA-System® programming software. Now the application technicianr is making the last technical adaptations before delivery of the machine.
“What is unusual are the amount of material to be clamped, the complex machining, the size of the workpiece and also the wall thickness of up to 18 mm", explains Michael Rau, pointing out several requirements of the unusual parts, which belong to a train and will be fabricated for an order from the Spanish company Tecalum. Tecalum is expanded their machine shop with a SBZ 151 profile machining centre from elumatec. Before delivery of the machine, the last adaptations will be made in the machining at the elumatec plant in Swabian Mühlacker near Pforzheim, so that the customer can start production immediately after installing the machine.
For this complex machining around 80 % special tools are used. For this reason the application technicianr must make adaptations in the programming software for the tools. Michael Rau: "We need more tool position because of the many and various machining.
Now we have implemented combination tools, then only one tool position is needed instead of two.” The SBZ 151 offers a total of 21 tool positions, included saws. |
