These facades and roofs were programmed using an automatic interface. The effort required in the AV was reduced to the provision of the desired process technology for sample parts, based on 3D volumes.

The U.S. Institute of peace headquarter:

The building, consisting of three different sections, was roofed by atria with broad spans over undulating roofs. The winglike shape of the roof was highlighted by transparent white glass.

The University of Chicago Library:

A glass cupola caps the reading room of the library. One challenge was the design of the connections of the frame to the 6-inch steel pipe of the supporting structure.

Both projects were fabricated by means an interface to Pro/E using the EFX extension by B&W Software fuer effiziente Produktentwicklung GmbH in Erlangen through the PUMA system and our NC-X to 5-axis profile machining centres. Several hundred frames and hundreds of individual rods were fed automatically through the machines without manual programming in the AV.

Rod optimisers, computers close to the machine, and barcode scanners were used in connection with the PUMA system.
