HGL GmbH expanded their machine shop with a 30 m long rod machining centre from elumatec for machining 28 m long aluminium profiles. The machine has two heads and can manufacture flexibly in various operating modes. HGL uses the PUMA-System® from CAMäleon Produktionsautomatisierung GmbH for programming the rod machining centre.

The Spanish aluminium company Tecalum S.L. offers their customers everything from a single source, from profile planning up to the finished end product. Tecalum produces with a modern machine park. Through the investment in a new 5-axis rod machining centre SBZ 151 from elumatec the Spanish company secured many advantages and entered a new market.

“The parts are unusual in several aspects”, says Michael Rau, application engineer at CAMäleon Produktionsautomatisierung GmbH, and points to the machine bed of the SBZ 151 profile machining centre from elumatec. An 1800 mm by 350 mm multi-chamber profile is clamped there, from which almost half of the original material will be removed in a complex machining process. The complex machining was programmed and simulated in advance by Mr. Rau using PUMA-System® programming software. Now the application engineer is making the last technical adaptations before delivery of the machine.

EiMa Maschinenbau GmbH specialises in the construction of custom machines for profile machining. The company from Baden-Württemberg designed a 14.7 m long custom machine with two spindle heads for aluminium profile machining for their customer AWW Wutöschingen. The PUMA-System® from CAMäleon Produktionsautomatisierung GmbH is used for programming software. With this method the spindle heads of the EiMa machine can be used coupled together or process different programs individually on two moving tables. Even long bed machining is possible.
